Blog Promotion: the boring part and the fun part….

I have been promoting my blog fiercely lately. Which while hopefully rewarding is quite boring initially, you visit sites that index blogs and submit the same information to hundreds of sites, as quickly as possible, or until you go crazy….. I made a very useful list of over 80 sites to submit your blog to, in order to get more traffic. I would be happy to provide the list to anyone who leaves a comment asking me too.

Now that I have completed that arduous task, I am doing the interesting part, discovering other people’s blog and finding interesting content to link to….it is amazing how many people are self-publishing through blogs now. Some of them are really great and some not so much…. Make sure to check the links section often as I discover more great new sites.

For work I have been finding sites with recipes and quality photos to go with them to use for future print publications. At first I didn’t consider the amount of people who are putting up their cooking adventures on a regular basis, the food blogs out there are numerous and very appetizing, within the vegetarian category I found hundreds….I am sure I did not find them all.

This made me realize that a blog for one of my current clients, LouiseHagler.com, a vegan website I am designing, could benefit from a blog. Louise is always cooking something beautiful and tasty!

Trying my best to become a Wordpress/blogging expert

I have been developing my blog at a rapid pace. By generating interesting content as often as possible, by proper promotion and by researching design and development I intend to have a blog that can generate readers and therefore income. Since I already have so much web design experience, and much of it translates directly to this project, I have been able to learn at an incredible pace and build a great blog. I have experience working with Wordpress specifically, but also with the general steps to install the software, build your blog, and to promote it successfully.

Since I have now completed the necessary processes enough to refine them, I would be happy to offer any insight I can to others now working to develop their own web presence. I am also available for hire to custom design Wordpress sites, from the entire site to just a custom theme. If you are interested in my services, please contact me via email.

Thoughts on a simple conversation

I was having a conversation recently with a friend. We were talking about whether we would send our children (hypothetically, neither of us have kids) to the The Farm School (the local alternative school) when they were old enough. She attended the school and did not feel challenged or adequately prepared in some vital subjects. Because of this she felt that the local school did not offer a complete education. She said that living here at The Farm was a great plan in the long-term except, would have to seek an ideal school somewhere else once her kids were old enough…..

I am a teacher at The Farm School, since I have been teaching there (about 1.5 years), it has become a much more orderly and learning friendly environment. Those changes have come about through hard work and dedication on the part of the staff and respect and hard work from the students.

Therefore I contested her, saying that she should try to make the school better, into an “ideal school” for her needs, rather than looking elsewhere for something perfect for you, which you are fairly unlikely to find.

In Summary:
People are inclined to look, and keep looking, for something perfect, rather than attempting the difficult task of making something ideal for them.

In order to be happy we must be willing to take action towards the changes we desire. Those changes will start small, in each of our lives….as you start to achieve those personal successes start thinking larger, to positively affecting your community and eventually to help change the world.
