Waking up on the beach in Tennessee
Last night I woke up right on the beach here at the Farm….in central Tennessee….you ask where is the beach?
The Swimming Hole had to be drained after the last Kids to the Country week. When we started to refill it, the large metal cap for the end of the drain was stolen….Then the secondary solution of plugging it with a bucket lid and the pressure was sabotaged as well. They tore down a nearby awning and used the poles to dislodge the bucket lid.
So last night Rick Diamond and I were asked to camp down at the swimming hole in order to dissuade vandals. We wondered what we were in for, as no had seen them or had any evidence to tell us whether it was drunken red-necks with guns or teen pranksters who’s plans would be easily thwarted….We did reconnaissance and deployed our vehicles in a fashion to shine the headlights on the enemy objective. I suspected that the vehicles be stationed in obvious view would be enough to stop their advance.
It turned out to be a beautiful night, not too buggy, and clear. The stars were out in full force, and with the way the Swimming Hole is situated, down low with tall trees surrounding it, it was like a natural picture frame for the wonderful night sky. I thoroughly enjoyed spending the night down there, had no problems with intruders and woke up to a beautiful morning on a diminishing beach, one that was limited time only. It was nice to get to enjoy it before it was covered with water. On the morning drive home the Farm was covered in fog….it was a great way to spend a night!
