Fallout 3 – Going to be the best game ever! (Hopefully)
I played Fallout when I was about 13 years old, and Fallout 2 a few years later, so this series really takes me back to the good old days. Aside from the nostalgia factor, this series has always been amazing, with some of the earliest open ended gameplay in any game. With such a great new developer taking the reins I expect even more form this game than previous incarnations. All of the reviews are great and it won best at show in quite a few categories, and the categories it didn’t win it placed very well.
Check out this great review.

Soul Calibur IV – Great game, but doesn’t make me an addict….so how great can it be?
I recently heard that Soul Calibur IV came out and I was very excited. The previous incarnations had been genre defining games that I had played for what seemed like days straight. So I went out and rented it, and beat it within 45 minutes while I was making and eating lunch….that’s the first problem….the main mode is short as hell! Luckily there was another single player mode that sounded interesting, so I tried that. It was fun and somewhat challenging, but it all comes down to there not being anything really inovative or new in this version. If I didn’t care at all about the upgraded graphics or new characters, I could play Soul Calibur 2 and not miss a thing…and those new elements aren’t enough to make a game really engrossing.

Waking up on the beach in Tennessee
Last night I woke up right on the beach here at the Farm….in central Tennessee….you ask where is the beach?
The Swimming Hole had to be drained after the last Kids to the Country week. When we started to refill it, the large metal cap for the end of the drain was stolen….Then the secondary solution of plugging it with a bucket lid and the pressure was sabotaged as well. They tore down a nearby awning and used the poles to dislodge the bucket lid.
So last night Rick Diamond and I were asked to camp down at the swimming hole in order to dissuade vandals. We wondered what we were in for, as no had seen them or had any evidence to tell us whether it was drunken red-necks with guns or teen pranksters who’s plans would be easily thwarted….We did reconnaissance and deployed our vehicles in a fashion to shine the headlights on the enemy objective. I suspected that the vehicles be stationed in obvious view would be enough to stop their advance.
It turned out to be a beautiful night, not too buggy, and clear. The stars were out in full force, and with the way the Swimming Hole is situated, down low with tall trees surrounding it, it was like a natural picture frame for the wonderful night sky. I thoroughly enjoyed spending the night down there, had no problems with intruders and woke up to a beautiful morning on a diminishing beach, one that was limited time only. It was nice to get to enjoy it before it was covered with water. On the morning drive home the Farm was covered in fog….it was a great way to spend a night!

Ragweed – amazing fun last weekend
I had a blast last weekend….it all started off on Thursday with a really fun canoe trip paddling down the Buffalo River, we drank, partied, swam, enjoyed the sun and jumped off trees….lotsa fun!!! My friend Benjamin visited for the weekend, so we canoed together.
On Friday I took a beautiful walk to “Tall Falls” on the Swan Trust Land near The Farm, then we creek walked a few miles up the creek, to avoid ticks and because it’s fun to wade in the creek. Friday afternoon I spent life guarding at our local beautiful swimming hole. Friday night there was a lot of great music, Strut played, though I cannot say which bands played when for sure as Friday and Saturday have run together somewhat
I played a hard game of basketball while I was pretty faded, it was fun but really tiring!! I only lasted till about 1 am Friday, early to bed so I could hopefully get up kinda early the next day…..
On Saturday I got up early even though that was really hard, I had to compete in our 1st annual Disc Golf Tournament. I did well, but not as well as I could have….but I had a great time!
After the Disc Golf I had to go and life guard again….but that was a ton of fun that too, because we had a BBQ at the swimming hole all afternoon. Saturday night the music rocked, I remember that there was THB and The Goddess Alchemy Project, both great and quite a few more. On Sunday morning I went down to the EcoVillage and climbed up to the roof to watch the dawn with my friend Greg, the mist was rising up over the trees, it was really beautiful, unfortunately our cameras were having issues but it was great nonetheless….. I made it to a little bit after 6 am on Sunday morning, pretty respectable, I guess
I used Sunday to recover from the weekend, and just relaxed, listened to music and napped.
I want to send out thanks and good vibes to everyone who was involved with Ragweed 2008.
All in all a great experience, too bad it only comes once a year, though I don’t know if we could handle more!!
